This dataset provides information on the utilisation of flexibility services across
all extra-high-voltage (EHV) zones within Northern Powergrid’s two licence areas:
Yorkshire and the North-East. It encompasses both demand and generation turn-up and
turn-down actions used to manage electricity flows on the local distribution network.
The flexibility dispatch data enables users to analyse historical dispatch volumes,
prices paid, geographic distribution and service providers. These transparent insights
support current and prospective flexibility service providers—such as local authorities,
electricity suppliers, industrial and commercial energy users, and generation
operators—by illustrating how frequently flexibility is dispatched and at what price.
The dataset is also valuable for wider stakeholders, including market analysts,
advisers, regulators, and policymakers.
Each row in the dataset contains the timing, zone, product, capacity, and provider
associated with each flexibility dispatch event. To ensure accuracy, the data is validated
through cross-referencing with contractual records and is manually reviewed by a DSO
Flexibility Engineer prior to publication.
Please note that this datasheet refers to requested volumes and may not match delivered
volumes, depending on performance against the relevant baseline.
